San Diego Wild Animals

During the summer, we made several trips with in this group of 6 friends: Jon Wood, Cat, Eric, Matt, Jared, and myself! This was probably one of our first trips together in the beginning of summer to the Wild Animal Park.

We started off the day with Robertos, a college student haven. We college students, often come here in the wee hours of the morning for some good ol'carne asada or pollo asada fries. Absolutely delicious!

October 11, 2010 was Jared's 21st Birthday. Even though we both have been really busy, I thought I would take the time to say what a great guy he is.

We don't always get along, and we don't always agree on certain issues, but through and through he has never left and always "tried" to be supportive. Just kidding, he's always supportive of anything I want to do. This guy has seen my in's and out's, when my emotions are at its highest and when they are at their lowest. Plus, he doesn't just make me laugh, but he takes care of me, makes sure my spiritually right! Thanks Jared for 2 years of fun! I hope there will be a lot more.

Hello San Diego County Fair!

marks our 1 year and 6 months!

It's hard to imagine that we've actually been together this long, but God is Good!

Seriously without You, God, we definitely wouldn't be together but by your grace, we can!

We marked this day with a surprise to the county fair from Jared, practicing my new found photography skills, and a ride on the farris wheel.

And oh yeah, while we were there, we made friends with the security guards. They were so friendly!

This is Chelsea. I miss this city so much. I miss the smell of the streets. I miss the expensive food. I miss getting lost on the subway. I miss walking through Williamsburg in Brooklyn. I miss shopping at Century 21. I miss sitting in Battery Park just watching the sunsets. I miss walking until my feet had blisters. I miss all the different kinds of food. I miss looking up at the tall buildings. I miss walking through Central Park on a cool day (which rarely happens).

Hello! As some of you might know, I recently went on a trip to New York. There are way too many pictures for one post, so I'll spread them out. I was there for 7 days, so 7 posts. While I was in New York, Jared was also on vacation in Arizona! We were planning on both blogging while we were on vacation but it didn't turn out that way!

New York Pizza!

My first day here was filled with shopping in SoHo

(Uniqlo, Mango, H&M as well as many small boutiques)

My cousin, who interns full time as an architect works in Tribeca, the next neighborhood over from SoHo, met up with me for lunch. He took me to this small pizza shop that had the largest pizza I had ever seen. I forgot to take a picture of the whole thing, but it was huge. Imagine these 2 slices x 5. I only ate 2 slices and I was done.

This is where my cousin works, the view is so great! Especially at night, I wanted to bring sleeping bags and sleep up there.

Then I made my way to Washington Square Park. I love this park, which is also located right next to the main campus of NYU....lucky Liz! Congrats! (for those of you who don't know, my dear friend Liz was accepted into NYU as a transfer student)

anyways when i saw this... i was stunned. the nurse behind this iconic world war II picture on V-J Day, Edith Shain (props to photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt) died just recently. This is one of the most historic shots i have ever seen and just pulls in such emotion and is just so beautiful. Man.... RIP Edith Shain you are forever immortalized in the pages of history.

But i'm glad you had fun and there is a very bright future for u in Irvine!! Just enjoy life and college is such an amazing time. I really hop that you are really going to grow and mature and really see what it is like to be on your own and enjoy what the Lord has to offer you as you mature!! ASCENSION DANCE WORKSHOP TONIGHT

is teaching a dance workshop tonight! I don't think I say it enough but I'm so proud of him! Even though dance takes up a lot of his time, and sometimes I'm pretty sad that I'm not able to spend time with him...okay maybe a little more than a little sad, I am really proud of him! He only started dancing the end of his 1st year of college and now, not even 2 years later, he's grown so much as a dancer! I remember when we were first going out, he was so proud that he made Ascension and used to come back to his dorm and show me his new piece that he learned in the confined space of his dorm room. Yeah, sometimes dance will make me sad, but everytime I see him perform, I love it! I love screaming his name at the top of my lungs whenever I see him dance, even though most times he's so concentrated in what he's doing he doesn't hear/see me but thats okay! I just want to be the most supportive person ever to him because he does the same and more for me!

So if you're reading this and you have nothing to do tonight, come out and support him at 8 pm in RIMAC!

I definitely had the time of my life at SUNGOD. It wasn't just the great music, I love the atmosphere of SUNGOD. Everyone lets loose...maybe its just the booze but I love everyone here! Drake (our headliner) was disappointing but B.O.B. and Relient K showed an amazing performance!

Elizabeth Una Kim's brilliant idea. Inspired from the Jak and Jill Blog,we each made our own paperbag Chanel purse. It was a great day for Diamond Trina and Eve drinking watermelon lemonade with shrimp tacos inbetween the main acts of SUNGOD

Lucy Chen. This girl actually went to all her classes on Sungod...I told you she was crazy! She also made the best tasting guac I have ever tasted along with the best shrimp tacos I have ever tasted. It was literally heavenly and everyone thought so. We also had a fun jam session with Lucy playing the guitar and Liz's beautiful voice.

Liz Kim. Scratch what I said about Lucy, she's the crazy one! Just kidding! This girl lost her blackberry on sungod through her paper chanel bag because it had a hole in it. But she's never worried. Hakuna Matata right Liz? and guess what, a girl found her phone and ended up calling Lucy with it! This girl is blessed with miracles (this is the 2nd time she lost her phone at an event).

Eric Chou. My best friend from high school! We had some great times together. He always had the best stories to tell, never disappointed.

I know its been a delay!

This event was run by Liz Kim and Myself as well as the help of our wonderful staff. This party was me and Liz's blood, sweat, and tears literally. The week before launch, we spent Tuesday night until 4 am posting posters up on UCSD campus as well as all Wednesday posting posters up in the dorms of each college. UCSD makes it impossible to publicize with 6 colleges and its enormous campus. It was definitely worth it though. We had a great turn out and definitely hit over our capacity of 258 people.

These are behind the scenes pictures of our spreads in NO 15. Kevin, Liz, and I doing hair and make up for our Eastern Promises shoot.

Jared and all his apartment mates came by and stayed for awhile. It made me so happy that they were there! They are like my 2nd family...literally Ryan is my cousin, Jenny is his girlfriend, Uriel De La O is ...the cookie monster. AND Kevin is my 2nd boyfriend! I love my dysfunctional Asian family, even if they're not all asian.

I love her... period. She helps me get through all my times of trouble and allows me to see the world for as it is, not how i perceive it. she really is heaven sent and even though I feel like things are just so difficult for me and her and that sometimes life seems to want to pull us apart, I'm ever more reminded why I am glad God has decided to make her my woman in this time of my life. Life is funny like that and He is really amazing even more to that extent. Prayers are answered and replies are made to every request to the Lord. I Love her, but I love my Heavenly Fatherly even more... much love baby. Kevin is...Almost Famous

Last night Jared and I went to go see our very best friend, Kevin's play. He's been working on it since the beginning of this quarter and recieved the lead male role for it! Kevin is definitely growing up, becoming a famous actor!! What he really want's to do is write screenplays... or at least thats what I think he wants to do! Afterwards, we went back to Jared's apartment pigged out on chocolate dipped strawberries and bananas and red velvet cake and watched Almost Famous. Jared's never seen it before but I don't think he was dissappointed! I absolutely love Kate Hudson's performance as Penny Lane. I love her!! absolutely adore her!! I definitely live for nights like these, when I get to spend time with some of my best friends watching a good movie.

Today I have 2 midterms. But I'm skipping all my other classes to study for them, even the required ones like...chinese. But today, I'm not nervous, actually I feel refreshed! I read a psalm this morning that really encouraged me. It reminded me why I'm saved again, and it makes my insides feel all good... and even though this picture has nothing to do with anything in my life right now, that was definitely a very fun day! Climbing the pyramids with 3 of my best friends, and yes I do consider Kevin and De La some of my best friends even they don't because well...I not only spend so much time with them, but they really care about me! and I really care and love about them!!! if that doesn't constitute a best friend, then I don't know what does!!

UGHHHHHH midterms are crazy!! i survived mine, lucky for me, but not for the dinosaur. But I think God has blessed me truly by aiding me and allowing me to stand resolute in this time. I've felt pretty close with His presence. But man this tuesday after procrastinating like none other... i had to study all starting monday.

After 4.5 hours of sleep monday morning and a drive from walnut to SD, i had to study and cram for my 40% nutrition midterm! lol yipes! a good mini nap, studying from 12 - 8 am straight (with one hour of sleep) and study food with Delia did the trick. Yummy sushi, vitamin energy drinks, chips, naan, hummus and other goodies.... sighs the deliciousness. She also made me a cute as hell drawing that made me melt lol i'll see if she'll let me post it soon. But I was able to do pretty well and it was all just by His will and blessing

Afterwards... wow I hibernated like a bear in the wintertime. 4 hour nap tuesday... 9 hours of sleep wednesday... 3 hour nap thursday.

stress free week

Oh how I wish this could be a stress free week.

Though with 2 midterms, it's pretty hard to keep focus. I'm just so glad that the No 15 Launch Party is over...for those of you who don't know, I'm the Event Coordinator for No 15 Magazine. Like everything in life, it takes work...lots of work...and did I mention stress? At least it was only for a week and now its over! and fortunately, people loved the party and the magazine...surprise. It also helped that my partner in crime, Liz Kim...or Trina was there to always feel all my pain! I love her. 2 midterms on Thursday and then I'm about to go on a shopping spree with Lucy Chen and vent all my frustrations into spending as much money in my budget that I can.

Yesterday, he took me to see Lupe Fiasco in Hollywood...AMAZING

Today, hes scrambling, stressing, and panicking to finish a lab report and study for a midterm all by 8 am.

The picture has nothing to do with my life right now, except for the fact that it really makes me want to sew and make a dress like that...shouldn't be too hard! I miss having free time. Hobbies make me more sane. I wish I could dance, sew, draw, and take more pictures.

No. 15 Magazine Launch Party

Saturday nights
are mostly spent with Jared. Tonight we spent most of it either bringing Costco goodies from my car up to Jared's apartment, a portion of it learning a new dance from Jared, and a medium sized amount doing homework: me- reading econ, jared- writing his ochem lab.

Anyways, I got to thinking about goals for summer and spring and I (not Jared) thought of this great idea where we would make a list of our goals, put them up on a wall and then throughout the rest of spring quarter and summer put post-its of advice/encouragement next to each of one another's goals. This way, we'd be able to say what we have to say immediately without forgetting.

Well, thought it was a brilliant idea anyways...I was extremely excited...especially when we both sat down and wrote them out.

Some elaborations on our goals.

Jared's Goals... (sorry i didn't understand the assignment... i wrote down a billion...)
Spring 2010
-Going to Nutrition OH/ finding a nurse practitioner: For my future occupation, I really want to be an NP. I need a letter of recommendation and i really love my professor for nutrition as well as the class materials. Therefore I'd really love to get to know him to help get a letter of rec for grad schools. Also I really want to find a nurse practitioner to shadow during the time before summer so I can get some exposure to the field.
-Pray for a person, a need and myself: i want to pray for one specific of these aspects each week constantly in order to have good prayer and give things up to the Lord.

Summer 2010
-Road trip to _____________: I just want to go somewhere this summer and just drive... haven't done it yet so why not?
-Spend one day doing nothing: Life gets busy... why not just take one day and just chill and sit... not watching tv or on the computer but literally sitting around at the beach or somewhere to just admire and relax and reflect on the world as it is.

Spring 2010
-get an A in Econ: because the fact is, I have never gotten an A in Econ...its quite sad really considering my major is International Studies: Econ and my minor is Accounting...
-read about women in the Bible: I really want to find my favorite woman in the Bible... someone I would want to be (inspired by Grace Hsieh when we went to Broken Yolk for breakfast!!)
Summer 2010
-film photography: hopefully taking a class at community college over summer!
-Sew more clothes with fabric from NY: Lucy and I planned to go to New York right after finals week and visit the fabric district...I'm going to fill my carry on luggage for sure...maybe even a check-in? who knows, but all I know is both our sewing machines are going to be in San Diego over summer!

Update after hibernation

Man it's been a long time since we have updated... and it's me doing an update on the solo. Anyways, these past two week have been strenous for both me and Deliasaur. I've been dancing from 9pm to 4am almost every single day for dance in preparation of all cal. i'll post a video maybe later of me and my team. Anyways it's taught me alot about dance and what i love about dance and the people i dance with as a family. I love it and i love what i do but i know that with everything i do it must be for the Lord and the purpose of this lifetime is just to really attain what really matters.

I love Delia and i know that it's hard to love me and to be with me sometimes and sometimes your as ornery as a triceratops... but in the end i'm willing to make things work and do what it takes because life is worth it to do it.

I hope that you all take time to smell the flowers and enjoy the sunshine with the springtime and really find what makes life worth it for you. Make sure it's something that's real though.

hello twenties,

I am ready to take you on backpacking tour of Europe, a Lucy filled San Diego summer, a possible job in New York, study abroad program in Paris, hardcore parkour, and world.

I am ready...

watch out world, I'm 20 now!

so what if I can't legally consume alcohol...hardcore pakour is so much better anyways, which I have become an expert at through the teachings of Kevin Matthew Reyes and Jared Lock Ng.

Except that I had the most amazing 20th birthday complete with a trip to the San Diego Zoo, and a surprise birthday dinner where UCI kids + Jackie came to visit me!

Thank you all so much for coming! Especially those who had to drive 1 plus hours here!

I am so blessed to have so many who love me and the best friend ever plan it all out for me!

Man that day was fun and it was crazy to think how it wasn't too long ago feeling when I went to this girls last birthday... but that was alot chiller and I had to do less work. conversations over email while we were in Mexico were tough and trying to hide it was no easy task... but she really didn't catch on! But in the end we went on a safari in Balboa Park, saw some animals do some naughty poo habitationing and had a fun surprise birthday in the end!

GOD BLESS for real! I know that's what I think God is showing me is that each thing we have in our life is a blessing from him and it is not ours to have, but to enjoy

This shot was totally by accident but I love it

Today was definitely a challenge in so many ways: waking up for church, arguments, and on top of all that, studying, but God is so good to us.

I visited my grandma today (she's not my real grandma, she's my grandfather's little sister...so technically my great aunt? who knows) and it was pretty awesome.
1. dinner was so good...so happy i have family in san diego that can make a decent chinese dinner that isn't filled with MSG
2. we talked for about 2 hours just about life and she asked me if I went to church today, like she does every sunday....

I wish I could be the Christian she is. She lives with her husband who is diagnosed with Alzheimer's. All he can do is eat and sleep. Living alone, I don't know how she does it! Actually I do, her faith stretches beyond anything I can ever imagine. She's unable to go to church and do many things because she has to take care of her husband, but that doesn't stop her. She listens to messages every sunday online in Chinese... and in English. Her English is extraordinary (better than my mom's for sure).

...then she asked me why I didn't bring Jared for dinner...
...she has never met him before...

Man i'm a lucky man... I have a woman who's willing to come to me and get me lunch when i'm starving amongst other things in this life... She does so much for me and puts up with the time that is seeped away with the other things i like to do and know i must do... but she's always there... to give me a double double cheeseburger with pesto, some french fries with seasoning salt, mac and cheese, granola bar, apple juice all in a paper bag.

Dimanche a la Mode

Sundays are definitely my favorite days to dress up! I love going to Coast Vineyard Church. I absolutely adore the drive up to Coast Vineyard overlooking oceans and mansions. and rain? I don't let anything get me down thanks to the turkish coffee with hazelnut creamer I had that morning complementary of Coast. And let me say, the message this Sunday was extra ordinary named: desperate faith. Even the name makes me cringe it was so good. -deliamarie

was definitely a crazy month, sorry for the lack of entries. During this month, God definitely filled our lives with trials and tragedies, along with a immense amount of growth.

The shortest month and yet the craziest one. Life has been slow and difficult and fatiguing. Man just life really hits hard and fast. Things of THIS WORLD are fleeting and sometimes you just can’t control that. And things may happen in this life, but all you can do is be thankful for what you have and appreciate the gifts God has given you. There’s so many ugly facets of life and all you can do sometimes is just laugh and smile…

Laugh and smile is what we do whether it’s in the City of Angels w/ pastrami bratwurst’s with crispy curly fries and ranch dressing or an African Safari in Escondido or a night out for a Valentine’s night dinner next to the ocean.

Sometimes we’re lucky and other times we’re not… and sometimes you just gotta enjoy what’s in front of you.

Anyways we would love to update and show you all our God's day shenanigans but due to other matters we would both like to take a time of short silence despite a great weekend. There are many things that hurt in this world and many troubles and hardships. We don't pay enough attention and the world is filled with so much pain. I hope that people who read this will be challenged to pray or if you are unreligious at least to reflect and think of the other people who are misfortunate in the world and downtrodden. They require so much love and it is necessary to at least take time to think of them.

And even though...we both thought it was a little depressing,

I'm still glad we watched it!

Afterwards, we made linguine with mushrooms, tomatoes, and huge chunks of cheese,

and attempted to do it adente style.

We didn't succeed, but it still tasted

I've been meaning to update...
I joined "Fashion Quarterly" last quarter just as an outlet for something I like to do. and...I love it! or the people on it! shoutouts to: Kevin, Liz, Mandy, Conor, Mina, Ellen, Lucy, Chesley, Grace, and MORE :) they've made it such a fun experience...although some of us are going to be involved in a new magazine, No. 15 hollaaaa!

III PBJ's

After a tough week, all I want to do is...eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and take a trip to the pool, which is exactly what I did! Jared and I went to the pool at night and brought a bottle of milk and 2 peanut butter jelly sandwiches with us. Random...a little? but that's us! ...oh and in other important news, Jared received his PBJ's (Pure Blue Japan's) in the mail that day also :)

On another note, God has been teaching me a lot even though I couldn't see it. I was greatly humbled this week in my trials (not really in school but everywhere else), and moreover God continues to refine me everyday. It's hard to see that he is always there, and his presence is everywhere. We consistently turn away from God after he has given us what we want, and ignore the fact that He's still here waiting for us to return to him like the prodigal son, and loves us even when we constantly turn away from Him like the Israelites. But even in these times, God is still here refining us...and compelling us to come back to Him.

GOD doesn't want us to protect us from hardships and tribulations, but instead PUSH us harder toward them, in that way, we can grow the most.

Man it's been a long week. tons of studying and i definitely am not getting the time like i desire in order to truly be able to really reflect and make changes. Man time is shorts. its so late already i feel hahahha. Anyways it seems so much like i'm being wasteful... taking things for granted and not truly pushing myself for the things of life. The ideals of the homegroup and YY's message last week has really been weighting heavily on my mind. It's really hard to push for revolution and dramatic improvement and change. It's so easy to just keep following things and going with the flow of life and never to stop and think.

The rapids keep going quickly and to get caught up really is simple. But to push and go against the grain and go for something larger than what I can see and this life is really what i want to strive for... THE ETERNAL! and really the concept and thought of suffering for THE GLORY. not just kanye west style but lived out for real. I keep praying for revelation and being shown what God is truly showing me. I hope to really strive for something superlative and not just ordinary.

So with studying for midterms and spending countless hours for mamm phys i stumbled across this verse and it's not just about smarts and God providing, but more about what God has and can give freely and provide. If you don't believe then I think there's something powerful in this.

"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind."

Midterms Week

Don't You Find Yourself Blessed to have Midterms?....sometimes I don't...well most of the time but then I try to remember that God has blessed me so much to have an education and to have the choice of choosing whatever I want to study.

Our First Post Ever:

After a week of rain, the sun is out and shining bright...I kind of miss the rain but its okay! Sun is great too! We were actually supposed to start this yesterday with our sunday church outfits...but with my excessive amount of econ homework and Jared's extravagant amount of extracurriculars (IM soccer and dance), we didn't have the time! But...recap on yesterday's message at Coast Vinyard on Predestination vs. Freewill... I don't think we'll ever be able to know the true answer to this since the Bible says something about both, but, I really don't think its all that important...Just remembering that "Salvation is by grace through faith alone in Christ" is enough for me.

Ephesians 2:8-9

After a very long and difficult weeks behind and everything, I'm finally able to come up for air. school has been so tough and time is getting short. I need to learn to manage my time and keep my eyes focused on what the Lord has planned. Sometimes things that may seem important are only important because you feel like you live forever. However it's far from the truth and I know I must live each and every day as if it is the last and truly treasure. Fix my eyes on what the Lord has designated for me and to best serve my Saviour in heaven above all. Some reflection time is definitely in order after this massive study session. It's back to being gloomy after one day of sunshine. That can work the same with the Lord's presence. But that one shining day or even an instant is better than a lifetime of other emptinessnessisms?!?!?!

I was reading this yesterday waiting for a psych experiment 2/2 in one day in Muir quad. There in the trees with the sun setting a rose and velvet purple sunset with the construction and building s and everything, it just came together and i had a personal moment to thank God and realize just how blessed i am in every aspect of my life.
